On July 19, 2025, at approximately 00:30 hours, multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Los Santos Police Department (LSPD) and the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department (LSSD), were deployed in a coordinated mutual aid operation in response to an armed robbery and subsequent officer-involved shooting in the area of La Puerta – Alta Street.

The incident began when LSPD units received a radio report of an active robbery in progress at a local store. Visual confirmation of a suspect fleeing the scene initiated a high-risk vehicle pursuit. In support, the Sheriff Communication Center (SCC) assigned all available units to assist, including Units 280 Sam, 280 George-1, and 280 Charles.

As units responded to the scene, LSPD reported that the suspect had stopped near a structure, where additional armed individuals were observed. Officers were subsequently ambushed with heavy gunfire, escalating the situation dramatically. A mutual command post was established, and a tactical strategy was implemented under unified command. During the confrontation, multiple officers were fired upon, and at least one "officer down" was confirmed.

An intense firefight ensued between the suspects and responding LSPD and LSSD officers. LSPD's AIR-1 unit later reported four armed suspects fleeing in a red vehicle at high speed. Units initiated a pursuit, during which officers attempted to disable the suspect vehicle by targeting its tires. The suspects temporarily stopped, returned fire on pursuing officers, and then continued their flight.

The pursuit concluded in the Rockford Hills – Marathon Avenue area, where the suspect vehicle experienced mechanical failure. The four suspects fled on foot, leading to another exchange of gunfire with officers. Two suspects were successfully neutralized and taken into custody, while the remaining two managed to escape on foot.

Preliminary reports confirm a total of seven suspects were involved:
  • 2 suspects in custody
  • 2 suspects remain at large
  • 3 suspects confirmed deceased
All suspects were reportedly wearing red clothing and masks at the time of the incident. The scene is currently under investigation by detectives from both departments. Authorities are continuing to gather information and pursue leads on the identities and whereabouts of the two outstanding suspects.

Further details will be made available as the investigation develops.
