SHERIFF MARTIN TORRES
Sheriff Martin Torres was elected as the 34th Los Santos County Sheriff on November 8, 2022. He leads the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department (LSCSD) the largest Sheriff’s agency in San Andreas commanding nearly 17,000 sworn and professional staff who serve and protect the residents of Los Santos County every day. Before his election as Sheriff, Torres completed a 36-year career with the Longport Police Department, the second-largest municipal police agency in Los Santos County. Beginning as a reserve officer in 1985, Torres rose through every rank of the department, ultimately being appointed Chief of Police in 2014.
Born and raised in the unincorporated neighborhoods of East Los Santos, Torres grow up in areas patrolled by the Los Santos County Sheriff’s Department. His early exposure to both the positive and negative sides of policing inspired him to become a peace officer and helped shape his philosophy of community-based policing, focusing on trust and collaboration within communities of color throughout Los Santos County. He received numerous recognitions for community engagement, integrity, and leadership from civic and neighborhood organizations across Longport and greater Los Santos.
Sheriff Torres is a graduate of the Federal Investigation Bureau’s (FIB) National Executive Institute and National Academy, as well as Harvard University’s Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government. He also completed the San Andreas University’s Delinquency Control Institute and holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from San Andreas State University.
