Medal of Valor Exceptional heroic acts performed on or off-duty by employees or reserve members of this Department |

Purple Heart Award / Line Of Duty / Heroes Fallen The Purple Heart Award is presented when an employee sustains a traumatic physical injury as a result of a violent encounter with the criminal element and the employee attempts to continue to perform his/her job functions. |

Meritorious Conduct Gold Medal Awarded for heroic acts involving great personal risk to life or safety, performed during official duties. Actions may not reach the level of the Medal of Valor but still show outstanding bravery. |

Meritorious Conduct Silver Medal For outstanding acts of bravery or service performed under dangerous conditions, but with less personal risk than the Gold Medal. |

Meritonous Service Award warded to Department members who have performed duties or accomplishments of substantial significance to the Department |

Distinguished Service Medal Awarded for distinguished and dedicated service of a high degree over an extended period. |

Sheriff’s Humanitarian Award The Sheriff’s Humanitarian Award is presented to those Department members who selflessly perform acts of personal commitment and sacrifice to help others. These acts are exceptional, ongoing, and extraordinary, and are considered well above the normal routine. |

Lifesaving Award Presented to personnel who save or prolong a human life through prompt and direct action, on or off duty. |
| Public Safety Award The Public Safety Award is presented to entire bureaus or units whose employees’ combined outstanding efforts led to a positive impact on public safety, such as an area-wide decrease in Part I crimes or acquiring national recognition for significant accomplishments in public safety issues. | |
