LSSD DUI Checkpoints To Reduce Traffic Violations and Accidents

On July 3, 2025, at approximately 08:11 PM local time, the Los Santos Sheriff's Department (LSSD) carried out a routine checkpoint operation as part of its ongoing efforts to enforce traffic regulations and improve road safety across the city or county.
Deputy Schneider of the LSSD explained that the routine check is a standard procedure conducted by both the LSSD and LSPD to ensure that drivers possess valid and active driving licenses.
He also emphasized the recent surge in traffic violations, including excessive speeding—over the legal limit of 60 MPH—as well as reckless behavior from motorcyclists, such as riding without helmets and engaging in illegal street racing.
“Routine checks are conducted to identify drivers who either do not have a valid license or are driving without one at all,” said Deputy Felix Scneider.
According to the latest data from the LSSD database, a total of 3,876 casualties were recorded this week alone due to driver negligence and traffic violations—an alarming figure that underscores the need for preventive measures.
“One person’s carelessness on the road can cost lives. It's crucial that all road users strictly follow traffic rules to ensure everyone’s safety,” he added.
While the routine checkpoint program is currently active, LSSD also plans to implement a DUI Check program (Driving Under the Influence), aimed at identifying and penalizing drivers operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol or other substances.
In closing, Deputy Schneider delivered a public safety message to all citizens of Los Santos:
LSSD hopes that through continued enforcement and public awareness, the community will work together to maintain a safe and orderly road environment for everyone.
“Please be cautious when driving and always obey traffic laws. Value your life and the lives of your loved ones. Keep your mind on the wheel, hands on the steering, and eyes on the road.”
